Peers’ Post:
Who is the Protagonist and who is the Antagonist in the following short story?
The Protagonist is Nanave and the Antagonist is the chief and the people from the village. From my understanding, the protagonist works toward the central story goals, while the antagonist works against the goals. (Brown, Dan,2020)
How does the story let you know that one character is the protagonist and that another character is acting as the antagonist?
The Protagonist its at the center of the story, it’s the main character. The purpose of the story and the outcome of it. Nanave was the focus of the story. The story ended  with him and it was based on his actions. The antagonists where the people from the village because they were against the protagonist (Nanave) and acted against what he was doing. The antagonist is the primary opponent of the protagonist, and the biggest obstacle standing between the main character and their goal. (ReedsyBlog,2018)
What specific cues does the story provide for the reader to know the roles of the characters in the conflict, theme, and plot?
The story started with describing two very opposite characters. A shark and a woman. The fact that the shark turned into human and deceived the woman just so he marry her. I knew the shark character was going to bring trouble and conflict. The theme was how a god was able to manipulate the situation to his favor. Selfish character. Nanave, his son had some similarities. He was protecting the sea animals but was ok with letting the humans at the village starve. Even though he knew that will affect his mother because she is also human. After all, the power of the god was a stronger bond than the one Nanave had with his human mother.
