Article writing homework help. Literacy Narrative and Timeline: This assignment includes two parts: an informal essay and a timeline.
See Chapter 6 in Evergreen for more information on writing a narrative essay – to narrate.
Part 1. Essay description and details: For this essay, you will write to your audience using a conversational tone about your experiences with reading and writing. Help us to live it, see it, and hear it — in other words, show don’t tell.
1. Your writing style:
a. Write with a conversational style and tone – like you would share your story over coffee. Be sure it is organized and easy for the reader to follow. Read it aloud to test this out! Better yet, read it aloud to someone and get feedback.
2. Your thesis sentence should include the following criteria as covered in the lecture:
a. What is your topic?
b. What question are you trying to answer?
i. Example: what is your literacy history; who am I as a reader and writer and why
c. What is your stance?
i. Example: Literacy is or isn’t important; you did or didn’t have a strong history, etc.
d. What might others disagree with? How could you counter those?
i. Example: Some may say I am a good student because I’m smart. I would say I’m a strong learner because reading and writing were valued and practiced in my home early in my childhood.
3. Include descriptions and details to help us be there — in the moment
a. Season and weather
b. Time and place: could be time of day, neighborhood, house
c. Who? What? When? Where? Why?
d. Context – what was going on in your life? How old were you?
e. What did it accomplish for you?
f. Who was with you?
g. Think about your 5 senses, use strong verbs, make it visual
h. Be sure to narrow your topic. We don’t want to know every event – just the ones that are special and fit your thesis.
4. Below are some ideas for your content. You are not expected to use all of these ideas; in fact, you might end up using only one or none at all.
